Toy Reviews
WTL 57 - Scotland Yard -Rental $1
Scotland Yard is a lot of fun and designed for ages 8 plus (although we’re sure a lot of younger children could play it). It's found in our 6+ section. One of the most fun aspects of this game is recording the movements of the agents. That way the game can be re-played after it’s finished to see just how close Mister X was at various stages of the game to being captured. Ideal as a family game for a wet weekend for those with 6 plus kids. (Meaning kids aged 6 and over as opposed to 6 or more kids!!)
WTL 495 - Jovo - Rental: $1
The
JOVO Click 'N Construct set sits in our “Construction” section and although the packaging has become tatty and worn over the years, this toy is a fun and educational way to explore polygons and polyhedra. The pieces fit together with a click and hold together well, to form strong models. This toy is more suited for children from four years upwards although adults can have just as much fun as the kids. Particularly challenging is the construction of the large ball that can be made with this set.
WTL 1245 - Talespin - Rental $1

Found in our games section, TaleSpin is a fun game which builds oral language and communication skills. It encourages appreciation of stories and story telling and helps develop memory skills. This game can be played according to the rules given but also has the potential for so much more. Though designed for ages 5 and up, there is no reason why children much younger, with guidance cannot enjoy the fun that this game gives.

WTL 404 – Humdinger

This toy usually sits on one of the bottom shelves in the construction section and is often overlooked for more exciting looking toys. Humdinger encourages children’s creativity by developing co-ordination, balance, colour recognition, basic mechanical principles and self expression. The pieces are chunky, sturdy, solid and easy to grip and there is heaps of room for creativity. The set comes in a sturdy wooden box which can double as a base for designs.
WTL 1542 – Noah’s Ark

At first glance this Noah’s Ark toy, made by Tupperware, seems to be just a fun toy to play with in the bath. But this toy is much more than that. Made from brightly coloured sturdy plastic, the ark comes with: Mr and Mrs Noah, giraffes, polar bears, elephants, rhinos, lions, and horses. Have fun gathering up the animals, putting them in pairs and making sure they are safely up the ramp into the ark before the Ark sets off for the deep depths of the bath tub. Although this toy is primarily a bath toy the animals double as cookie/playdough cutters and children can have heaps of fun making a whole zoo of different animals! And then there are the basic colour and shape recognition skills which this toy provides. Children match each animal with its partner by using basic colour and shape recognition skills.
